Bob’s Orange Nimbus

We had this orange sky last night. The camera oranged up that first one a bit. This is more like the real color:

Spectacular! The sky was full of those funny round clouds that look like cotton balls. Quite a show. We don’t have much sky to see through all the trees and houses so I hardly even look up anymore. I would have missed the whole thing if Foster hadn’t come over and dragged me out of the store.

On account of the sky, he had this orange glow around him when I answered the door. Don referred to the phenomenon as “Bob’s Orange Nimbus”, which is funny and also an excellent name for a mixed drink. We’ll get right to work on that.

Those clouds signify a potentially nasty thunderstorm with hail. Beautiful photos! It’s been a while since I experienced a good-old-fashioned-midwestern thunderstorm, but we do have good ones out here in the desert!

I bet you see some good ones with all the horizon you,ve got. There was really, really dangerous weather all over the place that night. I keep coming across pictures people took–people who had big sky above them. Scary looking clouds. Madison didn’t see anything but pretty sky. Tornados are extremely rare in the city, not sure why, but if the wind takes out a tree or a not up to code chimney or porch you could get squashed pretty easily. We still sit outside during weather looking at the sky.
